Joseph John Bowman was born on June 7, 1955, in Trail, British Columbia, Canada, of Christian parents, John and Anne Bowman. There was a time in both of their lives when they accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as their own personal Saviour. However, this did not prepare me for Heaven. There had to come a time when he took the work finished on the cross as his own. He had to realize personally that, when He paid the penalty for sin, He died for his sins. On a Sunday night in November 1962, at age seven, in Fairview, Alberta his mother led him to the Lord, showing him that he was a sinner and Christ died for him. The verse that God used to show him His salvation was, “I am the door; by me if any man enter in he shall be saved, and shall go in and out and find pasture” (John 10:9).
He went to the Connor’s Hill Gospel Hall in Edmonton (where he is to this day) and was received into fellowship in September 1977. On June 30, 1978, he married Joan Stewart, who is now his wife of over thirty-eight years. Joan was in fellowship in the West End Gospel Hall in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. (It is now the Parkview Street Gospel Hall.) The Lord has blessed them with two sons and seven grandchildren. They also have three grandchildren in Heaven waiting for them.
His work as an overseer began in September 1983 at the Connor’s Hill Gospel Hall and continues on to this day. It is not a lifetime appointment, and he was not elected to do the job, but he was recognized by the saints as already doing it before he became an elder. He began writing a few years ago at the encouragement of a sister in the Lord and has sought to serve Him in this way since then.
